The study of recurring structure across biological, physical and computational systems.

Quantum Biodynamics is an independent research company. We work on questions where the same organising principles appear at very different scales — from molecular biology to networks of intelligence — and we treat every claim as something to be tested rather than something to be defended.

Three connected lines of work.

01

Structural patterns across scales

A programme on recurring organisational structure — symmetry breaking, universality, and the transitions between order and disorder — as it appears across physics, biology, cognition and mathematics. We are interested in the parts of the description that carry over, and the parts that do not.

02

Applied AI and computational biology

Pre-registered benchmarks and evidence-preserving pipelines for genomic prediction, with an emphasis on falsification, provenance, and separating exploratory ideas from validated claims. Current work includes public splice-prediction benchmarks and calibration studies for foundation genomic models.

03

One Health as a research substrate

Human, animal and ecosystem health treated as a single connected system. We look for interventions and measurements that are informative across more than one of these domains at once, and for the network structure that lets a small change in one place move a lot elsewhere.

Five essays, in preparation.

The current programme is a set of long-form essays. Each is a single tested claim carried the whole way from first principles to a falsifier. All five are in preparation and will be released when they clear internal review.

Physics & mathematics In preparation

Modular time is thermal time

A first-principles derivation of the relationship between the flow of time as measured by a clock and the statistical state of the system that clock is embedded in.

Finance In preparation

The interface problem

Why models that succeed inside a well-defined system often fail at the boundary where that system meets another one — and what can be recovered when the boundary is treated as the object of study.

AI systems In preparation

What the anthropic filter really does

Every observed distribution has already been conditioned on its own recording. A careful accounting of that conditioning, with worked examples from evolutionary biology and machine learning evaluation.

Finance In preparation

Order-flow entropy as a market diagnostic

A direction-blind measure built from market microstructure that separates ordinary trading from the regimes where the usual assumptions break down.

The clearance clock

Pharmacokinetics as an inference problem: what the same dose given to two patients tells you about their internal state, and why the answer is more useful than the dose itself.

Falsification-led, model-diverse, quietly built.

Every substantive question is put through an explicit test: what would a reasonable observer accept as disconfirmation, and what evidence would have to appear for that observer to change their mind. Where the stakes are high, we use multiple independent models to argue the question from different starting positions, and we keep the disagreements visible rather than averaging them away.

We are a small operation by design. Work is done in the open when doing so improves the work, and kept private when doing so protects the people or systems it touches. We do not offer services, take on external mandates, or accept unsolicited pitches.

Research on this site is staged across an explicit evidential pyramid, from pre-registration through to public-facing explainer, with a status tag and last-updated date on every object. Read how to read this site →
